Shaffer Launches 2 Rockets and Carbone Blasts Walk Off

feature photo

It seams that anyone wearing the number 20 these days gets a free pass for hitting balls out of the park! Someone please find Carbone and Shaffer and send me their jerseys so I can auction them off on Ebay while they’re still HOT. :)

In the game between the Latin Hawks and the Providence Panthers, Richie Shaffer seamed to have his way as he helped to propel his team to victory over the Charlotte Latin Hawks. Racking up the numbers for the tournament, Shaffer batted .556 in three games and finished with 5 hits: a single, a double, a triple and 2 home runs. In my book that gives him a great chance for the MVP.

jacksink-150-0830.jpgIn another game, the Providence Day Chargers and Ardrey Kell were all knotted up at nothing apiece leading into the bottom of the seventh. The Chargers were up to bat. Both teams were making big defensive plays throughout the game but struggled to get something going on offense to break the deadlock. Something big was about to happen. Chase Carbone was first to bat but he was not connecting well with the ball, only 1 for 10. The first pitch was delivered, Carbone took one look, lowered his weight then smacked the ball clear over the 360ft. wall in left center field leading his team to a thrilling victory over the Knights. It was a great performance by both teams. And for a fan of baseball nothing could be finer than to witness a walk off homer to punctuate the game. For me, this game gets my vote for the most exciting ending. BTW, there were a lot of great defensive plays as well. Check out some of the action images and check back to this website to see some video footage once I make it available.
